Often the best things to shoot are not on center stage, but the edges of it. Standing all alone and watching, the 'flower girl' (actually a bubble girl!) keeps an discerning eye on all that's going on. This wedding was in San Francisco at the Golden Gate Park Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Gardens. A fabulous wedding and a great time of fun!

Brit has been one of my favorite subjects to shoot. This particular shot and pose came at us from out of the blue...I thought, what the heck, let's give it a try. Wow! We both love it. A very natural-looking pose. Funny story, I get to shoot Brit's wedding this June. Her mother has seen this photo and was shocked that she wasn't in the center of the frame. Different generations, I think. I still get to shoot her wedding despite mom's insecurity.

As I drove to Freezeout Lake early in the spring, I went around the goat-lick on the southern edge of Glacier National Park. There were about a dozen goats of various sizes on the hillside. This young one appeared to be practicing for his role later on in life (methinks I've see a tad too many 'posed' pictures like this of the full-grown animals). Still, I like it.

Spring

This winter seemed longer than usual. Maybe it's the gray that fills our valley
skies during that time. I've seen signs of spring, like the tulips next to our house sprouting and budding. Maybe?
This is one of my favorite tulip pictures. While I couldn't get out to shoot pictures I bought tulips (this one is a grow kit from Costco) and set them in my home studio and started taking pictures. Lots of pictures because there were lots of tulips and lots of color...and a lot of gray skies.
Our house remodel continues after leaving off in December. We are getting new siding installed beginning Monday. The past two days I've been ripping the old siding off and cleaning up the mess. The siding contractor was by today to look at the condition of the walls and knows there are some 'problem areas'. He's very positive and says "We can do this!" Tommorow I have one more area left to peel. The front porch. It will be very satisfying having all the outside work finished.
Two of the AzureVisions dancers visited today and left me with a 'thank-you' gift certificate to Reds, Wines and Blues. They wanted to give me more, they said, however, their concert didn't do as well as expected. I told them I wasn't in it for the money...and I'm not. I appreciate the fact that they allowed me to shoot pictures of them while they rehearse. Watching them move about the dance floor to music is breath-taking and hypnotic at the same time. One of life's pleasures.

AzureVisions...
is a modern dance collective I've had the privilege to work with for several months. I first shot them when they were preparing for their Spring concert which was presented on April 6 and 7. There are seven talented ladies, most of them dance instructors, who perform. And perform they do! The concert was held at the O'Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish, MT. One strobe used from stage right to capture this breathtaking photo of Natalie.

Peggy Sue...
said, "I'm not photogenic". I'll let the viewer be the judge of that. In my opinion the lens loves this young woman.

A shy young lady, who loves modeling, started by attending another session I was shooting. I had suggested to Brittany another person might be helpful to handle her makeup and any other related tasks. Another set of eyes watching for stray pieces of lint and flakes of mascara is always a plus. After shooting Brit, I asked Peggy if she wanted to sit and her comment was "I'm not very photogenic". You'll be seeing more of Peggy Sue, guaranteed.

Another beautiful day in the Mission Valley, and there wasn't a sign of Mr. GBH. Perhaps it's too early or we hit the 'pipes' at the wrong time of day. Mount McDonald and Mt. Calowahcan in the background. April 2007
